REGGIE WATTS

Our friends at Sydney Festival introduced us to Reggie, we’d never heard of him until then. His performance two nights earlier at the Bosco tent had people of all ages singing, swearing and slapping their knees as they wiped away tears – who the hell is this man and where the hell did he come from?  Reggie’s blend of music, comedy, cheek and lies is infectious and occasionally perplexing.

Reggie Watts: Sasquatch (for Shoot The Player)

Reggie seems to be always on.  The comedian/musician/family man joined us during Sydney Festival 2009 to play a couple of tunes down by Harry’s Cafe de Wheels where one of Luke Jerram’s public pianos sat open to the elements. When we arrived two women were playing while tourists came and went. We waited our turn, enjoying their little impromptu performance and the constant buzz that surrounds Harry’s Cafe, while Reggie free associated on topics from electronics to soft drinks to Australian pronunciation, from the weather to why peas are scary.

Reggie Watts: Instrumental (for Shoot The Player)

When Reggie performs, his delight in wordplay and music-play infuses everything.  Since January Reggie has been back multiple times, as his fan base grows and grows.  If you get a chance – go see him live and go say hi, you’ll come away as we did, giddy and confused, massaging your aching cheeks from laughter.
