<a href="http://vimeo.com/7041945">David Ross Macdonald: Time To Leave</a></p>
<p>Musicians seem to be by nature late-night creatures. Their gigs start late; then when the gig is over there&#8217;s always the long night ahead fueled by their post-performance-high &amp; the perpetual jet-lag so often felt as the result of constant traveling. That&#8217;s why their days generally start long after the rest of us have had lunch.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="580" height="326" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7041113&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="580" height="326" src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7041113&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object><br />
<a href="http://vimeo.com/7041113">David Ross Macdonald: Pepper Tree</a></p>
<p>So we were very grateful that David Ross Macdonald agreed to wake up early and play for us.  (We&#8217;d tried to shoot the night before, but had been rained out.) David is also the drummer for Australian band The Waifs &#8211; which explains his comment about being more ready to play drums than to sing first thing in the morning!</p>
<p>Paddington&#8217;s Trumper Park was a perfect setting for David&#8217;s achingly soulful music.  His songs about longing, loss, and love floated out into the shadows of the forest; and even the kookaburras quieted down to listen to his haunting voice and his intricate guitar-playing was beautiful to watch.</p>
